Compare PDFs

Put two versions of a document side by side and see exactly which lines changed.

Use Compare PDFs (interactive) — JavaScript required for uploads.

How to use this tool

  1. Add the first PDF
  2. Add the second PDF
  3. Run the tool and open the comparison report

What you get

A standalone HTML report listing every page, marking identical pages and showing changed lines side by side — the old text on the left, the new on the right.

Text only

The comparison is based on extracted text. Images, fonts, colours, and layout shifts are not detected, so a page that only moved a logo will read as identical.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes, completely free and with no account.

Does it compare formatting?

No — text only. Two files that read the same but look different will show as identical.

Will it work on scans?

No. Scanned pages have no text layer to compare.

Runs in your browser

This tool works entirely on this page. Your file is opened by JavaScript here, changed in memory, and handed straight back to you — it is never uploaded. Open your browser's Network tab while you use it and you will see nothing leave your device.

Because there is no server doing the work, there is no signup, no watermark, no file size limit, and no daily cap. Nothing is stored, because nothing is received.
