Remove PDF Metadata

Clear the hidden document properties a PDF carries — who wrote it, what software made it, and when.

Use Remove PDF Metadata (interactive) — JavaScript required for uploads.

How to use this tool

  1. Add your PDF
  2. Run the tool
  3. Download the cleaned PDF

What gets cleared

Title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, and the creation and modification dates.

An honest limit

This clears the standard document properties. It does not rewrite data some applications embed inside individual objects, and it does not remove content visible on the page. For that, use Redact or flatten to images.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes, completely free and with no account.

Does this remove text from the pages?

No. It only clears document properties. Visible content is untouched.

Why does this matter?

A PDF often carries your name, your employer, and your file path from the software that created it — details you may not want to send outside your organisation.

Runs in your browser

This tool works entirely on this page. Your file is opened by JavaScript here, changed in memory, and handed straight back to you — it is never uploaded. Open your browser's Network tab while you use it and you will see nothing leave your device.

Because there is no server doing the work, there is no signup, no watermark, no file size limit, and no daily cap. Nothing is stored, because nothing is received.
